Nature of Position
Administer the Agency's accessible services paratransit eligibility and appeals program to ensure compliance with applicable Federal and State regulations and guidelines regarding public transportation and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards for Transportation Facilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities/KSA
Monitor, review, and approve paratransit eligibility determination based on ADA regulations to include in-person interviews and/or functional assessments of applicants.
Ensure Agency paratransit policies and procedures are current by monitoring regulations and legislation on disability issues; update when necessary.
Provide customer service assistance to current and potential clients regarding paratransit program; answer questions, assist in application process, and resolve client issues.
Notify current and potential clients of eligibility, recertification of eligibility, warnings or suspension of services; provide ineligible applicants information regarding Agency appeals process.
Organize and maintain client database to ensure up-to-date information; compile data for reports on a regular and ad hoc basis.
Follow and enforce paratransit's "no-show" policy by reviewing daily no-show occurrences; notify client of suspension and/or warnings in writing.
Perform clerical duties including but not limited to filing, typing, answering telephones, and composing internal and external correspondence.
Work with and maintain confidential information.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.
E.
D.
equivalent and two-years of administrative support or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree in Business Administration and bilingual or at least a basic understanding of Spanish.
Other
Understand and apply Federal Transit Administration regulations and guidance related to the ADA.
Comprehend various kinds of disabilities, their related functional abilities and accommodation tools.
Appropriate terminology in discussing disabilities and related functional limitations in assessing fixed route service.
Efficient in basic clerical duties such as filing, typing, faxing, recordkeeping, and data entry.
Compile, analyze, and prepare data for various reporting purposes.
Deal tactfully with the public; establish cooperative working relationships with those contacted during work.
Learn new technologies, policies, procedures and guidelines established by professional organizations and/or governing agencies.
Utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet business needs.
Understand, follow, and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Work as a team member and independently; effectively apply organizational and time management skills; meet deadlines and comply with Agency policies.
Exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
Focus on tasks and recall details; handle frequent interruptions.
