Responsibilities: Program Development and Implementation: Develop and implement comprehensive Industrial Hygiene and Safety (IHS) programs, policies, procedures, and technical basis documents to prevent, correct, or control potential health and safety hazards in the workplace.
Establish controls and/or personal protective clothing and equipment based on the hierarchy of controls.
Conduct comprehensive sampling and monitoring of personnel, air quality, noise, or temperature to verify compliance with health and safety policies and regulations.
Hazard Assessment and Control: Review products for hazardous constituents and prescribe appropriate controls to mitigate potential risks.
Coordinate the removal of physical, biological, and chemical hazards from the workplace, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
Conduct thorough inspections of facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Risk Mitigation and Abatement: Conduct detailed hazard analysis for projects and tasks to identify and eliminate or mitigate potential exposure to hazardous substances or conditions.
Prepare comprehensive reports of findings from accident investigations, facility inspections, and environmental testing, presenting the results to client management.
Ensure proper preparation and maintenance of records according to established guidelines and regulations.
Collaboration and Support: Evaluate work activities and recommend appropriate safety and health protective equipment, risk mitigation strategies, and abatement controls, under the guidance and supervision of senior IH professionals and/or IHS managers.
Assist in the development, maintenance, and implementation of IHS programs and services, including asbestos management and control.
o Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to health and safety management.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environment safety and health, or related field.
Experience: 5-15 years of demonstrated expertise in Industrial Hygiene, with a minimum of five years specifically in industrial hygiene monitoring related to hazardous waste site characterization and remediation.
Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of direct reading instruments, personnel exposure monitoring/sampling procedures, and record keeping requirements.
Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, and CFR regulations is essential.
Knowledge of MSHA or OSHA standards is desirable.
Communication and Teamwork: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are crucial, along with the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
Hazard Evaluation and Control: Demonstrated proficiency in evaluating hazard controls, including PPE, engineering controls, and work practices.
The ability to recommend improvements to eliminate or reduce hazards is vital.
Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), or Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) a plus! Certification is desirable (CHST, OSHT, ASP/CSP, or CIH).
The pay range for this Washington position is $140,000.
00- $155,000.
00 per year; based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate.
