The Baker City Family Medicine Clinic is looking to hire a motivated and team-oriented PRN/On-Call Medical Assistant! Position Summary & Highlights: As a Medical Assistant (MA) you will work as needed to help cover for staffing needs and assist others as needed in a supportive and team-oriented environment.
As an MA in Family Medicine you will have the opportunity to use a variety of skills and will see a variety of patients.
The Baker City clinic offers family medicine and internal medicine services.
From preventive screenings to chronic disease diagnosis and management, our providers are committed to keeping our patients healthy.
What You Will Do: Obtain vital signs, patient histories, verifies patient medications, etc.
per provider instructions.
Assist provider with diagnostic/therapeutic procedures in a safe, clean, competent manner/environment.
Perform clinical procedures in accordance with training after competence has been documented and per provider’s orders within Medical Assistant scope of practice.
Maintain a clean, well-stocked patient care area, observing aseptic techniques and other regulatory mandates (e.
g.
, OSHA, CLIA).
Perform clerical functions including prior authorizations, referrals, laboratory/diagnostic, and referral tracking, processing insurance forms, etc.
You will also perform phlebotomy, immunizations, and also assist with procedures and injections.
An ideal candidate will have strong self-initiative and communication skills, enjoys developing efficiencies, being part of a supportive team, and willing to assist in all areas of the clinic.
Orientation & Training for PRN/On-Call Status: Ideally this position will initially work up to 40 hours per week to orient and become familiar with clinic practices.
Training and orientation are paid time.
Training will likely last for several weeks, but can be flexible.
Once oriented, this position will likely work 2-5 shifts per month (or more).
There is no guarantee for minimum number of hours per week and it will be fill-in only for sick calls and scheduled time off.
Ideally this position will work at least 2 full shifts per month to maintain competency.
This position will be working with any of our providers on any given shift (M - F, 7am-5pm).
There will be sufficient time to meet the requirements to take the certification exam.
Work Schedule after Training: This position will work either Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm or possibly 4 - 10 hour shifts during the week, Monday - Friday.

MA credentialing from one of the following organizations is required to be completed within 15 months of hire or transfer date: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA) American Medical Technologists (RMA) National Healthcare Association (CCMA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA) Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
Don't have a certification, no problem! Saint Alphonsus now offers an internal MA Program where we will pay for online classes through National Healthcare Association and the clinic will assist with labs/skills training.
