The Cyber Security and Digital Operations division is responsible and accountable to DOE for the governance, risk management, compliance, and defense of all unclassified and collateral classified information systems at PNNL.
We protect and defend PNNL’s infrastructure, data, and reputation from cyber adversaries, and we influence, advance, and showcase cybersecurity research at PNNL through solid partnerships with PNNL research groups.
We provide core infrastructure technology and services designed to deliver a high-level operational efficiency to the laboratory.

Click Here For Rockstar Rewards Responsibilities: For this position, we are searching for a Cloud Operations Engineer to work within the Cybersecurity & Digital Operations Division.
The Cloud Operations Engineer is an experienced IT professional who supports the effort to create a work environment that boosts workforce digital dexterity through an engaging and intuitive work environment.
The Cloud Operations Engineer will support the change, configuration, and release management processes in a hybrid environment with on-prem and multiple cloud platform resources.
The Cloud Operations Engineer will serve as a trusted partner collaborating with all CIT organizations to: Ensure that standardized methods and procedures are used for efficient and prompt handling of all changes to control IT infrastructure to minimize the number and impact of any related incidents upon service.
Develop and implement standard processes and techniques to identify individual elements and configurations, track changes, and version selection, control, and baselining.
Develop a roadmap for the enhancement of the current Change Management Database (CMDB) Lead the strategic planning for implementing a robust, single platform for change, configuration, and release management.
Orchestrates the release of all internal, SaaS, and Cloud changes and provides the appropriate communication to the affected areas.
Review requests for change (RFCs) to ensure appropriate rigor, discipline, consistency, and predictability are applied across the entire organization with respect to how RFCs are submitted, reviewed, approved, and executed, including Post Implementation Reviews (PIR).
Assess and identify needed Change Management process improvement opportunities.
Create, analyze, and report on metrics to measure change, configuration, and release management processes adherence.
Contribute to and create integrations and orchestration blueprints.
Provide DevOps, build and release, and CI/CD expertise to agile teams in the enterprise.
Chair the Change Advisory Board (CAB) meeting, produce the meeting agenda, and distribute meeting minutes to stakeholders.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: BS/BA and 5+ years of relevant work experience -OR- MS/MA and 3+ years of relevant work experience -OR- PhD with 1+ year of relevant experience Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years total of IT system experience in analysis, analytics, infrastructure, engineering, and/or programming.
3 Years of IT experience managing and supporting Change Management processes in IT services in a hybrid environment with on-prem and multiple cloud platform resources experience in process, quality improvements, documentation, training, reporting, and analytics.
Previous experience supporting the change, configuration, and release management processes for an organization transitioning from on-perm to cloud platforms.
Extensive knowledge of major public cloud providers (Azure/AWS/GCP) and Government environments.
Agile methodology certification and/or cloud practitioner-level certs for Azure and AWS.
Has hands-on technical and theoretical knowledge of: DevOps practices and toolset.
Application Release Management.
Build, test, and deploy automation, including CI/CD.
Delivery orchestration and infrastructure provisioning.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of Configuration Management Data Base (CMDB).
Ability to coordinate multiple assignments, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Ability to communicate with a high level of effectiveness both verbally and in written formats.
