This is a Mountain Hardwear “Stronghold” expedition dome tent.
This tent will shelter 10 persons and is engineered to be impervious to the elements.
I used it for 'bush plane camping' in the Idaho backcountry.
It is a VERY, VERY nice tent for a small group.
Some of the features are:
• Industry leading DAC Pressfit™ poles
• Two doors (through rain fly, inner canopy with mesh for bugs)
• Internal perimeter skirt provides off ground storage
• Included floor attaches to perimeter skirt, if desired.
• UVX windows for a brighter interior and visibility of exterior conditions
• Mesh and canopy zippered thru-vents allows ventilation and view through the fly window
• Perimeter snow flaps
• Color coding at each ring makes set up easy
• Internal pockets help keep you organized
• Reflective guy loops and zipper pulls are easy to see at night
• Rugged duffel bag included for transportation and storage
• Guy lines and line tensioners included
• High quality DAC J-Stakes included
This is a true 4-season high-altitude capable tent meaning it is genuinely robust to withstand severe snowing and blowing conditions.
You can find these tents at base camp on major climbs.
This is not a sissy tent.
Of course, it is very nice in mild conditions.
The tent is in excellent condition and is ready to go.
The tent is 15 feet in diameter at the base and is 76 inches high at the peak.
The printed setup instructions are included but the principle behind setup is easy.
See photos for the progression.
The main canopy is stretched out and the five red poles are inserted.
You follow the seams inserting the pole and each ring the pole passes through is color coded.
The red poles ends are then inserted in the grommeted straps and the tent becomes a dome.
The 5 silver poles are then inserted and fastened to their grommeted straps.
The 5 black poles are inserted in the same manner.
Lastly, you pull the fly over the dome and fasten its’ straps at the end of each pole intersection at the tent base.
I have done the full setup by myself many times in less than 30 minutes but two persons makes the setup easier.
The fly has a fire resistant panel sewn in at the peak such that a small woodstove can be used.
As I often used this tent for early/late season “bush plane camping” in the Idaho wilderness the stove made for a cozy space where it was freezing outside but 70+ inside.
My titanium wood stove is not included in this sale but I can be convinced to sell it for the right price.
It truly changed my camping to have heat in the tent.
If there are other campers around (such as in Yellowstone) don’t be surprised if they stop over to see the tent as it is remarkable with the stove smoke and a lantern inside.
This tent currently sells (from Mountain Hardwear) for $4000.
I am selling for $2699.
There are a lot of scammers working CL.
As such, send me a Craigslist email with your name & phone number.
I’ll call you back.
There is no need to inquire “Is it still available?” or other questions without the phone number as I won’t respond.
I’m not grumpy – I don’t want to assist scammers.
