Patient Collections Specialist

Apex Spine Institute is looking for a qualified Patient Collections Specialist for our Spine and Pain clinic.
Apex is a private medical practice with 9 providers.
Duties include: * Analyze delinquent accounts with regard to billing and payment history and determine appropriate follow-up procedures based on departmental guidelines * Analyze financial information provided by patients to determine their ability to make payments; advise patients on appropriate payment plans * Prepare accounts for transmittal to collection agencies when department collection efforts are determined to be unsuccessful * Request authorization for Durable Medical Equipment * Works directly with the insurance companies, providers and patients for complete and accurate claims submission and payment * Reviews paid claims for accurate reimbursement * Answers phones and discusses patient billing questions * Processes patient and insurance refund requests in a timely manner * Posts payments and/or denials from insurance remits * Reviews claims for errors prior to sending claims to the clearinghouse * Assists others in our department with their job functions when needed * Other projects and duties as assigned Qualifications: * 1-2 years experience medical billing or account collections * Education commensurate with position Job Type: Full-time Pay: $23.
