River Point Farms is seeking a highly organized and detail-orientated *Accounts Payable Clerk* to join our local finance team.
The AP Clerk is responsible for a wide range of basic accounting and clerical functions.
A successful AP Clerk maintains good internal controls over our accounts payable processes, a professional office environment, and excellent relationships with vendors.
Responsibilities:
* Verify accuracy of invoiced transactions, research and resolve discrepancies, obtain approvals, and process payments.
* Monitor, collect and compile timely backup documentation and approvals before entering invoices.
* Match, code and enter invoices into the accounting system with correct general ledger codes, dates, terms, and addresses.
* Maintain and electronically archive AP records.
* Ensure timely payment within invoice terms while taking advantage of discounts/incentives.
* Work with vendors to upkeep current data (i.
e.
addresses and payment terms).
* Reconcile vendor statements to ensure timely payment and no duplicate billings.
* Proactively monitor payments for known and recurring expenses.
* Assist with month-end review and close of AP subsystem.
* Monitor Certificate of Insurance needs and communicate with appropriate parties to ensure coverage.
* Assist with preparation of monthly sales and use tax filings.
* Monitor office supplies inventories and provide purchasing assistance.
* Maintain petty cash card and associated records.
* Provide receptionist support for the local office and management which may include answering phones, scheduling appointments, tracking assignments, delivering parts, and other administrative tasks.
* Open and distribute mail.
Assist with accounting for incoming checks received.
* Cross-train in other relevant skills to be able to assist in other miscellaneous assignments and projects.
Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Advanced education preferred.
* 2+ years in accounting/bookkeeping/clerical work or equivalent combination of experience and education/training.
* Understanding of basic accounting principles including A/P and A/R.
* Proficient with 10-key operations and general computer skills, including Microsoft tools.
Previous use of HRIS (Lawson) and/or Kronos desired.
* Demonstrate strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
Bilingual Spanish a plus.
* Excellent attention to detail, time management, and outstanding organization skills.
