Description:
Our STEP Center Specialist will promote independence for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) through the STEP Center Program (Steps to Empowerment Program).
The HPI STEP Center provides person-centered training and activities that enable our clients experiencing I/DD to achieve employment, enhanced socialization and independence, or meet other personal goals.
You will provide quality assurance of procedures and documentation, specific task training to co-workers, and day support program assistance.
You will work closely with the STEP Center Coordinator to set daily schedules and program goals.
Wage Range: $16 - $22 per hour, starting wage depending on experience
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8AM-4PM (40 hrs per week)
This schedule may vary based on client needs - occasional weekends and evenings are required.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to:
Monitors accurate documentation of medical records and client ISP goal fulfillment in THERAP
Reviews monthly Employment fire drill and completes documentation.
Reconciles client petty cash accounts and submits requests for additional funds when due.
Review and ensure attendance records from Employment and Day programs for accuracy on billing forms.
Demonstrates working knowledge of ISPs and action plans.
Assists manager to complete Risk Evaluation and develop Individual Support Plans.
Provides training for employees as needed.
Performs duties of DSA, Employment Path, and CLS.
Assists in scheduling daily transportation needs.
Provides job coaching, job development, and Discovery as needed.

Must have intermediate computer skills - email, Microsoft Office, print/copy/scan/fax
Must be able to work independently without direct supervision
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Valid driver's license that is insurable by Horizon Project's auto insurance provider (Driver Required position)
Must pass a pre-employment urine drug test, driving records check, and background check
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must be able to complete all required in-service training and certifications with or without accommodation
Physical Demands
Position is active in nature.
Must be able to monitor and observe the activities of program participants.
Regularly move about or position self to supervise and interact with participants at their level.
Occasionally lift, transport, position, push/pull or move up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
Must be sufficiently mobile and possess a range of motion to perform repetitive standing, walking, balancing, stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, sitting on the floor, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and twisting.
Ability to react quickly to the physical actions of program participants.
Administrative and supervisory activities will require the ability to operate keyboard-driven equipment.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Sufficiently mobile to attend activities and meetings within the County.
