Center for Human Development, Inc.
is seeking a full time Adult Abuse Investigator to provide Adult Abuse Investigation Services for the Developmental Disabilities (DD) programs as outlined by Oregon Administrative Rules in a three-county region.
Position could include Mental Health Investigations for Union County.
The Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in human services, social, behavioral, or criminal science and two (2) years of experience in human services, law enforcement, or investigative experience; OR an Associate’s Degree in the human, social, behavioral, or criminal science and four (4) years human services, law enforcement or investigative experience.
Requires knowledge of the public service system for Developmental Disability Services in Oregon.
Must have knowledge in the principles and practices of investigation.
Must have knowledge of principles and procedures of technical, investigative record keeping and reporting.
Must have the ability to effectively conduct in-depth interviews with a variety of individuals in the field and in-person.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass all criminal history check requirements and drug screenings.
Essential Functions: Investigate reports of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of adults with developmental disabilities and/or adults enrolled in Community Mental Health Program.
Plan with victims and others for immediate safety needs and takes emergency action if necessary.
Develop effective relationships and coordinate investigations with law enforcement and the legal system, as appropriate.
Perform a variety of evidence gathering techniques including: photography; review of medical/financial records; and conduct interviews by phone and in person.
Upon completion of the investigation, prepare written findings, including any required actions to respond to abuse or prevent further abuse of the adult.
Must be computer literate and have the ability to type and utilize word processing and other software programs/systems including programs/systems mandated by the State.
Responsible for maintenance and timeliness of all records, and other required documentation.
Attends local, regional, and/or state meetings as needed.
Remains updated on all rules and OAR’s pertaining to DD services and Community Mental Health Program.
The Work Environment: The majority of tasks will be away from the office site.
There will be travel required throughout Wallowa, Baker, and Union Counties.
Occasional out of area travel and overnight stays will be required for attendance at meetings and/or trainings.
Within a typical day’s routine, services will be provided at the home site of the client, service provider, and the office.
