Eastern Oregon University (EOU) is now accepting applications for an Assistant Football Defense Coach (Special Teams Coordinator / Defensive Backs).

72 FTE, 12-Month position in the Athletics Department and reports directly to the Head Football Coach.
The Assistant Football Defense Coach (Special Teams Coordinator / Defensive Backs) assists the head coach in all facets of the program to develop an elite NAIA Football program that will be competitive and advance the team in the competition, academics, and in the community.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and possess the ability to lead, teach and coach student-athletes in a challenging environment with a strong defensive football mindset.
The assistant coach will have a strong focus on recruiting and coaching instruction as well as building a strong and successful team culture.

The Eastern Oregon University Assistant Football Coach is expected to adhere to the NAIA Coaches Code and EOU’s Athletic Department’s guiding principles: Support the physical, emotional, social, and mental development of student-athletes through a robust system of care and support that produces quality student-athlete experiences.
Support high standards for academic excellence, assisting in academic oversight.
A competent pursuit of athletic excellence shown by competing for Frontier Conference titles and participating in NAIA postseason play by advancing to the national championships.

Responsibilities Assist the Head Football Coach in all areas including Defensive Asst.
/ Team Travel / Hudl / AGP.
Help with video system.
Be committed to student-athlete development.
Assist with administrative office duties.
Perform other duties assigned by the head coach.
Special Teams Coordinator Oversee all aspects of Special Teams (Kick/Kick Return, Punt/Punt Return, Onside/Onside Recover, Field Goal/Field Goal Block).
Responsible for delegating Coaching Special Teams responsibilities amongst the rest of the Coaching Staff.
Defensive Backs Position Coach Responsible for Player Development of the defensive backs Position Group which typically includes a minimum of 12 football players.
Responsible for the Academic Game plan of the defensive backs Position Group.
Recruiting Responsible for recruiting athletes from a specified geographical region.
Responsible for recruiting the athletes that will be in the defensive backs Position Group.
Responsible for assisting in both on & off campus recruiting events.
Summer Camps Will play a major role in the overall success of our High School Summer Camps both on & off of Campus.
Assist Camp Coordinators in all aspects of planning & executing successful High School camps.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in any related field.
Four (4) years of college playing or coaching experience on defense.
Must have and be adept in applying knowledge of Defensive Backs Position Group Academic Game plans and football techniques.
Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of Special Teams.
Experience recruiting for a college football program.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Knowledge of and commitment to NAIA and Frontier Conference rules.
Ability to exert oneself physically over sustained periods of time to complete job activities.
Ability to stand a minimum of 6 hours during the workday.
Ability to repetitively lift, carry, and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Ability to repetitively push and pull equipment (for example, football sleds, dummies, and pads) a minimum of 10 yards without assistance.
Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check.
Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.
