At SBA, the Teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, spiritual, and physical growth.
The position of Teacher requires a love of life-long learning, knowledge and understanding of teaching strategies to support all students in learning, and the ability to create a nurturing, wholesome learning environment.
This person is responsible for co-creating a multi-sensory, engaging curriculum, rooted in creativity and respect of students’ ability and desire to learn.
Inherent in the position are such responsibilities as adherence to the St.
Basil Academy Mission Statement, Policy Manual, By-Laws and Student Handbook.
The Teacher will work cooperatively with the Administrator, Staff and Parents; participate in staff meetings, field trips, school programs and special activities as requested by the Principal.
The Teacher will report directly to the Principal, and will work with a collaborative and creative group of educators to maximize the potential of our small, alternative educational facility.
TEACHER, Full-Time position, 1st-3rdgrades
* Prerequisite Qualifications:-Curiosity, enthusiasm and a deep love of learning
* Bachelor’s Degree or higher (exceptions may occur based on experience)
* Mastery or experience in subject areas taught
* Ability to manage a multi-age classroom
* Work cooperatively with other staff to create a positive, loving, and inspiring environment for students
* Desired Qualifications:-Experience in Waldorf, Reggio Emilia, Charlotte Mason or Classical education styles preferred
* Experience teaching the UFLI phonics program

* Experience working in a Waldorf, Charlotte Mason or Reggio Emilia inspired context-

* *Key Responsibilities:-Teach an array of courses as assigned for 1st, 2nd and 3rdgraders-Curate and co-create multi-sensory, creative curriculum*
* Build relationships with families to foster a strong home-school partnership based in respect and empathy
* Assist in assessment of changing curricular needs and offer plans of improvement in collaboration with colleagues and Principal
* Communicate effectively, both written and orally, with students, parents, and staff- Able to identify, select and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varied backgrounds, learning styles and levels of mastery.
* Able to assess and clearly define student progress
* Foster a caring environment within the classroom
* Nurture a deep sense of community and social/emotional resilience in students-Encounter stress with a positive attitude, level-head, and confidence
* Effectively manage an orderly classroom and keep efficient records
* Perform other school or classroom duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
