The role:
Join our team as the transportation maintenance manager, where you will be on the frontline for activities, actions and results of our area to ensure a safe and reliable multimodal transportation system that connects people and helps our community and economy thrive.
You will be responsible for approximately 429 lane miles of highway and 9 permanent and 3 seasonal employees.
You will implement current and long-term plans, manage several programs, budgeting and all maintenance operations of state highways and related facilities within our district.

A day in the life: Manage, direct, and prioritize maintenance work activities.
Make hiring and termination decisions.
Evaluate personnel performance of employees, develop staff and hold them accountable.
Develop short and long-term plans to improve productivity.
Serve as a member of the district management team.
Manage the winter maintenance and operations program, Serve as a local ODOT representative in contact with the public, law enforcement, media and local government officials during emergencies or when resolving local issues.
Respond to emergencies and act as incident command by providing direction to staff, other agencies, media or the public until the appropriate parties are on scene.
Manage fleet equipment assigned to the maintenance section.
Attend and participate in project development meetings.
Oversee development and management of section maintenance budget.
May be assigned irregular work schedules and required to work in hazardous and heavy traffic conditions.
