is seeking applicants for a Project Archaeologist/Field Director to join our group of successful professionals who provide personalized services to communities and clients throughout central and eastern Oregon and Washington.
AP has offices in La Grande, Redmond, and Hermiston, Oregon, and Walla Walla, Washington.
Our preferred location for this position is our La Grande office, but the Walla Walla office will be considered as well.
Responsibilities
• Work on a team to assist with the cultural resource review and assessment of sites and properties associated with a variety of projects including, but not
limited to, infrastructure (water, wastewater, roads, and bridges), irrigation, and stream restoration projects in central and eastern Washington and
Oregon.
• Lead and conduct fieldwork for pedestrian survey, shovel testing, site testing, and construction monitoring projects.
• Prepare cultural resource inventory reports, monitoring reports, and archaeological site forms and National Register of Historic Places eligibility
evaluations.
• Coordinate with other archaeological staff, engineers, and technical staff on a wide variety of projects.
Qualifications
• Experience leading archaeological fieldwork.
• 1 to 5 years of experience preparing and conducting archaeological evaluations and reporting.
• Familiarity with federal and Washington and Oregon cultural resource management laws.
• Possess a Master’s degree in Anthropology/Archaeology or a related field.
• Meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines Professional Qualification Standards for Archaeology (see URL below).
• Be previously approved or demonstrate the ability to be approved as an Oregon - qualified archaeologist within six months of hiring
(see Oregon Revised Statute 390.

• Ability and skills to work in an interdisciplinary team environment.
• Experience interfacing with the Oregon State Historical Preservation Offices (SHPO) and Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic
Preservation.
• Available for frequent travel and overnight stays as required for fieldwork.
• Valid driver's license.
• Background check permission must be provided.
