People • Customers • Trust We are seeking resumes for a Supervisor Mill Accounting (1 Opening) in our Wallula, WA facility.
Description of role: The Supervisor Mill Accounting is a key member of the accounting team and reports to the mill controller.
This position supervises mill payroll, payables, and is deeply involved in support of the controller, mill manager and mill operations teams in areas related to manufacturing cost, variance analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and mill profitability improvement.
The Supervisor Mill Accounting is required understand the mill’s cost structure, products, operational cost levers and general business.
This position is seen as the track position towards mill controller role at this mill, or another location.
Principle Accountabilities: Support of mill’s Daily Cost Management (DCM) process that involves close participation with the mill leadership teams on a daily basis as the mill manages manufacturing operations in support of its improvement objectives.
Supervise AP & Payroll to ensure that transactions are processed accurately, timely and in compliance with PCA standards and policies.
Participate in the GL closing and reporting process.
Take responsibility for assigned account closing activity and control reviews / documentation.
Pursue opportunities for process improvement through work with other financial representatives within the mill and across PCA.
Lead the profit forecasting, annual budgeting and month-end closing processes for the mills.
Prepare financial analysis and scenarios as requested.
Assist in practices to ensure that PCA’s Key and Significant Controls are in place and operating.
Maintain system of accounts and document balances through complete and timely account reconciliations.
Prepare internal reports, revise and up-dates reports for Management decision making.
Analyze and report variances.
Make recommendations to mill management aimed at improving the short and long-term results of the mill.
Review financial position and key control issues with mill management on a quarterly basis.
Work with internal audit on all control based work and ensure all internal audit findings and AFR issues are corrected and remain corrected on a quarterly basis.
Participate in the capital expenditure process including working with mill management on analysis of significant projects and ensuring that project’s financials are prepared properly.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance required.
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant accounting management experience.
Manufacturing finance experience is essential.
Must be able to travel as necessary and possess a valid U.
S.
driver’s license.
Must be authorized to work in the U.
S.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in finance or accounting.
CPA or CMA designation.
Experience in the Pulp and Paper industry.
Supervisory management with experience in hiring, coaching, performance development, and corrective action.
Trident & SMARTS knowledge.
Strong leadership skills and experience leading a team or a strong understanding of the importance of open communication and information sharing among co-workers.
The successful candidate must possess the following Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The Supervisor Mill Accounting is expected to bring experience, professionalism and a positive approach to the challenges of the role.
Informing others of emerging situations or issues as well as the curiosity to independently research trends and analyze data through the business systems of the mill are key strengths.
Solid understanding and working knowledge of standard financial / accounting procedures, GAAP concepts and principles, accounting procedures and internal controls.
Working knowledge of general ledger financial systems and database tools.
Solid analytical and mathematical skills.
Must be able to analyze a multitude of issues and effectively communicate findings.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and communicate with business management.
Strong negotiation and persuasion skills with the ability to create new business opportunities.
Solid working knowledge of PC applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and accounting software.
Ability to plan and manage numerous projects and areas concurrently.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
Strong listening, evaluating, and problem solving skills.
Ability to create alternative solutions and meet deadlines.
Strong leadership, problem solving and training skills to shape and lead team by example and create enthusiasm.
Pay and Benefits: The salary range for this position is from $89600 to $134400.
Employees (and their dependents) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, basic life, and disability insurance coverage, subject to applicable waiting periods.
Employees are automatically enrolled in PCA’s 401k retirement plan at the time of hire.
Employees are also eligible for up to 120 hours of vacation (prorated) and eleven (11) paid holidays per calendar year.
