Position Details:
* Part-time salaried (exempt) staff position, 10 hours per week
* Pay range $18.
50 to $19.
50/hr, depending upon experience * 2 paid Sundays off to start; After 1 year and upon review of annual terms, 3 paid Sundays off; After 2 years and upon review of annual terms, up to 4 paid Sundays off.
Position Summary This position is responsible for leading worship music for Sunday and special services, for leading music practices, and for providing related administrative support.
Collaborates with Accompanist and Pastor to execute the overall vision and growth of our music ministry.
Job Responsibilities * Lead worship music each Sunday morning by singing and, at appropriate times, playing guitar or piano * Direct the choir/ensemble each Sunday from September through May * Identify and recruit musical resources and encourage the congregation’s participation in worship music * Organize and lead weekly rehearsals for the choir/an ensemble and, as needed, with other congregational musicians * Find appropriate new music and assist the Pastor in song selection for services * Meet weekly with the Pastor and staff to plan worship services * Meet monthly with the Worship Ministry Team to plan overall direction for worship and music * Maintain files of music and charts and/or oversee volunteers doing the work Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge * Ability to engage the heart of the people through music using the great hymns of the past as well as current worship music * Proficiency in singing and playing either piano or guitar * Ability to direct a choir or an ensemble of musicians * Ability to provide leadership and direction to volunteer musicians and contracted professionals * Knowledge of instrumental and vocal music * Knowledge and appreciation of and/or willingness to learn about spiritual music, both past and present, distinctive to the Presbyterian understanding of worship * Possesses a teaching heart and a collaborative work style * Ability to engage people with a variety of communication styles * Exhibits initiative in carrying out their work * Possesses organizational skills Other Requirements * Must have a strong Christian faith and is able to demonstrate that faith in their music ministry * Committed to the community of Meadow Springs Presbyterian Church * Possesses a passion for music and understands the role it plays in congregational worship * Willingness to learn (if doesn’t already possess knowledge of) Reformed style of worship About Meadow Springs We are a Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA) congregation.
