*Job Summary* The Public Health Assistant Director (PH Asst.
Director) provides comprehensive oversight, including technical and administrative duties, to the Yellowhawk Public Health Department clinical teams.
The PH Asst.
Director must be highly motivated and creative in searching for, proposing, and obtaining grant and other types of funding to support public health activities.
The PH Asst.
Director will collaborate with government officials, community leaders, and health professionals to ensure that public health policies and regulations are communicated effectively to the public.
The PH Asst.
Director will develop and maintain relationships and partnerships that advance Yellowhawk’s public health initiatives.
All duties and responsibilities will be performed in accordance with the Yellowhawk Mission and Vision statements.
*Essential Job Functions:* 1.
Participate in the development of departmental and Yellowhawk-wide annual work plans, progress reports, and monthly administrative reports.
2.
Supervise assigned department personnel, interview and select new employees, provide instruction and training; plan, coordinate, assign and review work; act on problems and concerns and maintain standards; approve leave; evaluate performance and approve transfers, promotions, discharges and disciplinary actions.
3.
Work with Public Health, Finance, and Yellowhawk Administrative staff in identifying grant opportunities, write and collect data for applications and budget development.
4.
Participate in external and internal collaborative, coalition and pertinent grant meetings; may require travel and alternative work schedule.
5.
Develop and implement new policies, procedures, and staff competencies; revise existing policies where feasible; make policy recommendations when pertinent as a member of the Risk Management/Quality Improvement Committee.
6.
Support Public Health Director in administrative reporting, planning, and program development projects including Performance Management/Quality Improvement system, PHAB accreditation, sustainability and strategic planning.
7.
Contribute to the documentation of Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) standards and measures requirements for ongoing accreditation.
8.
Develop, monitor, and train assigned clinical staff in quality improvement principles, project identification, performance standards and documentation.
9.
Supervise, evaluate, and support the Public Health Operations Supervisor, Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Coordinator, and Átawišamataš Program (Maternal Child Health, Home Visiting focus) Manager; support development of program activities and policies; ensure grant objectives and deadlines are met.
10.
Collaborate with the Medical Department/Medical Officer on development and maintenance of standing orders, clinical policies, and quality assurance standards that are pertinent to both departments.
11.
Transition into the role of Project Director for the Tribal Maternal, Infant, Early Childhood Home Visiting (TMIECHV) grant within one year of hire date.
12.
Support Public Health Operations Supervisor, Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Coordinator, and Átawišamataš Program Manager in obtaining career development opportunities, pertinent job-related trainings, and leadership development.
13.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center Policy Manual and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
14.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $100,148.
00 - $150,234.
