The director of hospitality and tasting room manager is a key position.
This position is the leader in customer service at our Chateau in the prestigious Red Mountain AVA.
We are seeking a fun, energetic and positive person who is passionate about wine, wine culture, food, and creating experiences that are memorable for both the customers and our staff.
This position includes daily operations of our hospitality program and tasting room and will report directly to the winery owners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: · Hire, train, educate, and motivate the tasting room staff to give top notch customer service.
Continuous education and promotion of positive customer experiences is a must · Foster positive culture amongst the front-of-house team through training, mentorship, and inspiration, cultivating a shared passion for wine and food that transcends to customers · Schedule tasting room staff based on tasting room traffic and reservations, trying to keep labor costs at a minimum while maintaining quality service · Fill in when needed to ensure guest needs are met, which can include some evenings, weekends, and special events · Develop a unique tasting room experience, including tasting room menu format, wine offerings, décor, and atmosphere · Ensure that the guests have a friendly, educational and memorable visit · Set tasting room strategies and event strategies to increase customer base, grow profits, and support wine club growth and club retention · Work closely with Wine Club Director to achieve goals for club sign-ups and train staff for upcoming wine club shipments and procedures · Track daily and monthly retail sales.
Measure sales results against expectations and sales promotions · Be proactive with community outreach via hotels, restaurants, wine shops, and special events to increase tasting room traffic · Respond to non-profit requests.
Work with owners to decide on appropriate non-profit donations · Coordinate with sales, marketing, kitchen, and/or owners for accommodating and reporting on Trade, VIP visits and owners’ private guests · Work in tandem with the executive chef to come up with tasting room food specials, events, and wine/food pairing experiences · Work in tandem with the executive chef to host wine club dinners and lunches for our level one club members · Work in tandem with the Wine Club director to host wine club members, execute wine club events, and pack and distribute biannual wine club shipments · Manage the reservation system for the tasting room via Tock · Manage the company calendar to include events, trade visits, private dinners, family visits, and VIP group tours and tastings · Create monthly emails that create awareness of tasting room and winery happenings, wine and food specials, and on-site and off-site events · Work in tandem with the Warehouse and Shipping manager to keep the tasting room and library inventory stocked, counted, reconciled and up to date · Provide social media content, when applicable, to the Ecommerce director relating to dinners, events, tasting room specials, etc… QUALIFYING SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE · Passion for wine, food, wine culture, hospitality, customer service and sales · A minimum of five years of hospitality experience, preferably in the wine profession or related experiences · Extensive experience in customer service with a deep understanding of fine dining standards · Demonstrated interest and creativity in event planning and execution emphasizing collaboration, organization, and attention to detail · Understanding of budgets and industry pricing · Ability to transition between fine dining and more casual events · Proficiency in Microsoft Office, POS systems, and Tock reservation system ATTITUDE AND ABILITIES · Enthusiastic ambassador for Hedges Family Estate · Represent the organization professionally through effective and thoughtful communication · Work as a member of a team.
