The City of Richland seeks a visionary leader with public works experience to serve as its next Public Works Director.
The ideal candidate will have a service-oriented approach with the community and staff, while prioritizing servant leadership and employee development.
The chosen Director will be expected to model and foster the City’s core values in the performance of their duties and their interactions while representing the City.
This includes the values of Teamwork, Integrity and Excellence, which promote and maintain a high level of morale and productivity.
The ideal candidate will be committed to excellent departmental culture.
The Department is of a size that requires a leader to operate at a visionary level, and also be effective, understanding project details.
The chosen Public Works Director will be a subject matter expert and very comfortable with giving reports and presentations to the City Council, community groups, and other stakeholders.
They will be a long-range planner, able to quickly assess the state of things within the department and establish a path for the future.
They will be experienced working with and building relationships with regional, state, federal, and other local agencies and stakeholders.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in engineering, public administration, or a related field, plus at least six years of experience in public works, including five years in a senior management role.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
A valid driver’s license is required.
A Professional Engineer license is preferred.
The target hiring for range for this position is $149,043 to $178,851, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
The salary range for this position is $149,043 to $208,660.
