The Respiratory Therapy Manager is responsible for day-to-day leadership, supervision, and oversight of hospital and clinic respiratory care service lines.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to operations, staffing, budget control, process improvement, materials management, problem-solving, and customer relations.
Service lines include Respiratory Therapy, Echocardiography, EKG, EEG, and Sleep Medicine.
Oversees and performs diagnostic tests of cardiovascular and pulmonary systems to aid physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and lung disorders.
The manager works constructively with other hospital department managers and hospital executive staff.
The manager reports directly to the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer in planning and reviewing budget processes, assuring regulatory compliance, maintaining and developing information systems, reviewing and maintenance of financial performance and expense goals, and assisting with the development and implementation of new services.
He/She provides managerial support by assisting department staff with day-to-day issues to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.
The manager develops staffing schedules to assure that standards of care are met in a financially responsible manner.
The manager is expected to maintain bedside respiratory therapy skills and provide patient care support as deemed necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Extensive knowledge of cardio-respiratory physiology, therapeutics and diagnostics for all ages and types of patients, and the ability to monitor patient’s physical and psychological status.
Communicates clinical information with other providers.
Supervises personnel and manages the direction of Respiratory Care Services and related service-lines.
Provides direct patient care as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Ability to lift 75 pounds maximum with frequent lifting/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Provides care for the patients’ age-specific, cultural, physical and psychosocial well-being.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited school of respiratory therapy.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and has a current Oregon license for Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (LRCP).
Minimum of three (3) years of management experience preferred.
Evidence of continuing education in Respiratory Care and Management principles.
Leads change effectively.
Utilizes process improvement skills to identify problems and implement process improvement solutions.
Communicates effectively with providers, staff, executive team and hospital department managers.
Current computer skills and experience required; experience with clinical information systems preferred.
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
