As we continue building our bench of qualified, salaried, leaders at Oak Harbor Freight Lines, we are seeking students for our 9-month leadership excellence and development course (LEAD).
We are looking to hire career-minded individuals.

This role is a full-time position, receiving a salary while learning.
Our Leadership Students report directly to our Learning & Development Manager, with dotted-line accountability to our two L&D Specialists and a personal mentor.
The purpose of this role, and in holding this annual, 9-month course, is to intentionally build our long-term leadership bench; our vision for these students is for them to eventually hold any position necessary internally, from our entry-level Dock positions to executive leadership roles, and for these students to choose Oak Harbor Freight Lines as their long term career residence.
We’re looking for people who have the vision, passion, resiliency, and competence to invest their careers into this private, family-owned, company.
Our Leadership Students spend roughly 9 months traveling across our footprint of LTL Terminals up and down the West Coast, in a flipped classroom learning environment.
Focusing on communication, public speaking, and emotional intelligence, our students learn about our most pressing internal pain points and keys to success while working with 50+ internal Subject Matter Experts.
The ideal candidate brings some form of post-secondary education completion (4-year, 2-year, trade school, military, etc.
) and/or LTL or Freight-specific work experience and knows what it means to earn influence and respect.
Required job responsibilities for our Leadership Students include: • Willingness and unending ability to travel where needed for the duration of the program.
• Upon completion of this leadership program, our students must be willing to relocate to anywhere within our company’s operational footprint.
Primary expectations of the course and students include: • Personal ownership of all learning (from SME’s, books, podcasts, and class time) • Responsibility for scheduling all travel and managing all related expenses.
• Weekly communications with instructors and mentors.
• Willingness to take risks, to try new challenges, to fail and get back up, and to say what needs to be said when it needs to be said.
