JOB SUMMARY: The Rental Regional Service Manager is responsible for delivering consistent processes across the assigned region to ensure we are meeting all fleet, shop efficiency and tech development goals.
This position will serve as a strong resource and hands on leader by working closely with Regional Managers, Foremen, and Technicians to ensure rental division employees are properly trained in equipment repair and ensuring maintenance processes meet all expectations for quality and safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Safety Actively cares, promotes, manages, and advocates safety at Western States.
As a leader and team member in the organization, it is critical to ensure all employees, vendors, and clients have a safe work environment while adhering to all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.
Maintains clean/clutter free work areas to ensure safe environment for all WSECO employees.
Adhering to required personal protective equipment (PPE) as identified in safety policy.
Leadership and Development Oversees the Tech Development program to ensure a clear understanding for all technicians by working with the Regional Managers and Lead Techs for training needs.
Helps evaluate tech skill levels and advancement.
Assists with onsite onboarding of new technicians to drive a more consistent onboarding process.
Serves as a leader in safety and helps to ensure technicians are properly trained and compliant with safety policies and best work practices.
Responsible for achieving Rental excellence service operations targets.
Assists the Foreman with claiming warranty on all allied products.
This includes educating the Foreman and regularly updating resources on warranty terms for the CRS products.
Works with assigned Regional Managers to address workshop issues, SWPs, contamination guidelines, and safety concerns.
Communicates new fleet arrivals and teaches NPI’s for allied and CAT rental equipment.
Proactively communicates with Technical Communicators and Foreman about common issues and failures to resolve issues.
Monthly visits to key accounts with sales reps as needed.
Responsible for region’s work order status goals and works with assigned branch to ensure we have consistent processes to allow for maximum efficiency.
Responsible for assigned branches, working closely with Regional Managers.
Process Management Oversees all shop processes and procedures.
Assists Lead Techs in developing consistent processes to maximize the efficiency and safe work outcomes of all branches.
Oversees the Return to Ready shop process to maximize fleet availability.
Creates a consistent image, repair expectations, and processes amongst all locations, working with Regional Managers and Foreman.
Works with Equipment Ops and the Foreman to communicate and monitor service letters.
Ensures that the service letters are completed before the expiration date.
Recover 100% of damage expense for the Rental Division.
Tracks the SOS results and ensures that proper repairs are completed in a timely manner to help prevent costly repairs and failures.
Tracks and communicates safety notices on equipment.
Oversees unavailable/on hold fleet list on a weekly basis for assigned stores.
Communicates with Leads and Regional Managers to help maximize utilization up time.
Implement a consistent process and deliver a finished product in the most cost-effective manner.
Responsible for the rental rollout process to implement consistency and delivery of a finished product in the most cost-effective manner.
This includes all communication, onsite visits, and hands-on help when needed, etc.
Manages “on hold” equipment statuses to minimize poor utilization.
Perform yard walks to analyze fleet condition and make suggestions for any gear that appears to need retired or rebuilt.
Assist in recovering 100% of damage expense for the region.
Communicates new fleet arrivals and teaches NPI’s for allied and CAT rental equipment.
Promotes and manages all customer care standards.
May accomplish training and serve as a team member in support of Western States’ strategic programs, projects, and initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Proficiency in the use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems is required.
40-50% overnight travel required.
Plan, organize, and prioritize daily job tasks to maintain high quality service to internal and external customers with limited supervision.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Training experience preferred.
Consistent attendance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Four years’ heavy equipment repair experience required.
Two years’ supervisory experience required.
Two years’ experience in an equipment rental environment required.
Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record required and ability to obtain a DOT-Med Card, required.
Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Must be able to sit for long periods of time along with walking, standing, climbing stairs, reaching pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs in accordance with Western States’ Lifting Safe Work Practice to include amount and approach.
Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
