GENERAL SUMMARY The Chemistry and Radiological Services Director is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and management of the Chemistry and Radiological Services organizations at Columbia Generating Station to ensure that all applicable licensing and regulatory standards and procedure requirements are met.
The Chemistry supervisors and the Radiological Services Manager report to this position.
The Chemistry and Radiological Protection Manager interfaces frequently with other station managers, CNSRB members, and outside regulatory members.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES •Provide leadership and management direction for strategic planning and implementation for strategic improvement plans, business plans, excellence plans, and performance indicators to achieve excellence for the Columbia Generating Station Chemistry and Radiation Protection programs and departments.
•Ensures an effective Chemistry program at Columbia Generating Station through the Chemistry supervisors.
This includes all Chemistry monitoring programs, ODCM, REMP, Radioactive waste disposal, and operation of the lab facilities to ensure that all monitoring, analysis, and controls are in compliance with all requirements to optimize plant performance and reliability.
•Ensures an effective Radiation Protection program at Columbia Generating Station through the Radiological Services Manager.
This includes all Radiological Operations, Radiological Support, and ALARA Radiological Planning to ensure that all activities are in compliance with standards and requirements to ensure the radiological health of plant personnel and to optimize plant focus on ALARA, dose reduction, and plant reliability.
•Manage the radioactive material and waste shipping program to meet 49CFR 172-173, 10CFR 20, 10CFR 61, and 10CFR 71.
•Manage department budgets to ensure adequate resources for equipment and personnel to support goals and objectives.
•Maintain a trained and qualified staff through effective personnel selection, development, and training.
•Participate in Outage support and Emergency Program assignments.
•Act for the Plant General Manager function when delegated.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of eight years of experience in the nuclear power plant industry, four of which must include management of plant functions within the power plant [e.
g.
, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Chemistry, or Radiation Protection].
As the designated Radiation Protection Manager, must have some formal radiation protection training, and must have at least five years of professional experience in applied radiation protection.
At least three years must be in applied radiation protection work in a nuclear facility with problems similar to a nuclear power station.
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Active or previous SRO license, SRO certification, or BWR Management Certification.
If selected candidate does not meet this, he/she must attend and satisfactorily complete the next Management Cert class provided by EN.
This requirement may be waived by the Site Vice President.
Pay Range: Salary: $164,678 - $247,018 $205,848 midpoint Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.
Incentive Compensation This role is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
