R0111408 On Site Richland, Washington, United States Full time Provides direction, supervision, guidance, support, and oversight of bargaining unit personnel (Radiological Control Technicians).
With minimal oversight, oversees work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of health physics techniques, controls, procedures, and criteria.
This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS Support the Waste Treatment Completion Company Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment Responsible for the daily field supervision of Radiological Control Technicians Provide support for operational aspects of Radiological Control Program implementation to assure federal, state, and WTCC requirements regarding radiation exposure to site personnel and the general public are followed Promptly resolve challenging program implementation issues by teaming with WTCC management and facility staff to identify compliant, cost-effective solutions Assist with radiological work planning for assigned facilities and operations Provide oversight of radiological field operations to assure operating facilities remain compliant with WTP requirements Provide guidance and information to senior management and facility staff on emerging issues pertaining to Radiological Control Program implementation Support the resolution of corrective actions and assist in the investigation of radiological incidents Direct activities of assigned staff and plan and schedule allocation of resources in support of facility operations and maintenance Supervise the radiological monitoring of plant conditions to assess trends and determine protective measures Specify posting, labeling and locking requirements for radiological areas in accordance with procedures Review radiological monitoring results and ensure timely documentation Oversee, monitor, and inspect radiological aspects of work Provide guidance and direction when radiological problems arise Perform daily facility walkdowns and inspections to ensure proper radiation protection work practices Must qualify and maintain qualification as a Senior Radiological Control Technician This job description is not intended to include every duty, task or instruction for which an employee is responsible.
Other tasks may be assigned, based on business needs and the department supervisors request REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS Education: Associate of Science Degree in Health Physics, Engineering, or related science.
Appropriate training and experience commensurate with the responsibilities of the position may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Degree in science or engineering may be substituted for two years of experience 2 years of supervisory experience and 8 years of experience in radiation protection required.
3 years of Nuclear Facility experience required (Nuclear Experience when used in reference to Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities, is experience acquired at any facility in which radioactive materials are routinely handled, stored, processed, or utilized.
Full-time related academic training may be substituted on a one- for-one basis for 2 of the 3 years’ nuclear experience.
) Demonstrated knowledge of DOE operating policies, rules and regulations, or knowledge of commercial nuclear facilities (e.
g.
NRC/INPO) regulations and requirements, and knowledge of industry codes and standards in radiation protection.
Required Experience includes: Possesses knowledge of health physics with expert knowledge of applied health physics/radiation protection principles and practices, standards and requirements Previously qualified as a Senior Radiological Control Technician (or equivalent) Experienced in resolving challenging radiological issues with management and facility staff Preferred Experience: Experienced in Radiation Protection Program implementation within the DOE complex Shift Operations in a DOE production facility or High Hazard facility, including working knowledge of Conduct of Operations.
Active certification as RRPT preferred SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise Radiological Control Technicians in the implementation of radiological work controls PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (EFNM-RAD) Exposed Field Non-Manual - Radiological Control Technician: Performs deskwork, including writing computer workstation processes, and telephone operations.
Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meeting, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring log periods of sitting.
Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing personal protective equipment and carrying measuring tools.
Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.
Supports construction activities, establishes, and maintains files.
Performs radiological monitoring where radiological contamination is or may be present.
Work with medial on required radiological monitoring.
This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.

m.
Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: HIRING SALARY RANGE: $112,835.
92- $178,251.
