Job Responsibilities/Duties
Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) seeks a Shift Operations Manager to join the Direct Feed Low Activity Waste (DFLAW) Team.
The DFLAW Team Area Shift Operations Manager will be accountable for ensuring that the personnel assigned to the tank farms perform work in a safe and compliant manner in accordance with applicable technical and environmental safety requirements.
This position is accountable for ensuring tank farm operations are conducted in accordance with approved policies and procedures while implementing Integrated Safety Management Systems (ISMS) and Conduct of Operations.
The successful candidate will lead a multi-disciplined team of Exempt and Bargaining Unit personnel responsible for Documented Safety Analyses (DSA) and Regulatory compliance, surveillances and routines, preventative and corrective maintenance of single and double shell tank farms and associated facilities.
The Shift Operations Manager promotes and upholds proper Conduct of Operations with a multi-disciplined team of bargaining and exempt personnel and their performance is in accordance with site procedures and processes that reflect exemplary disciplined operations and radiological practices.
* Ensure technical procedures and other work-related documents are prepared and used to provide appropriate work direction and to ensure work is performed compliantly, safely and efficiently.
* Interface and develop good working relationship with radiological control, maintenance, environmental, and other support organizations.
* Actively support programs designed to protect employees against workplace hazards.
* Ensure notifications of events or conditions are made to the Shift Office.
* Ensure worker radiation and chemical exposure is maintained as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
* Implement and mentor Conduct of Operations to Field Work Supervisors (FWS) and bargaining unit personnel.
* Perform periodic oversight and/or review of the Integrated Safety Management System program to ensure its effectiveness and applicability.
* Ensure facility compliance inspections and surveillances are complete.
* Assist in identifying maintenance issues and prioritizing fixing the problems.
* Review procedure changes and new procedures; ensure accuracy of procedures by validation; initiate changes to correct procedure issues and enforce procedure compliance * Assign personnel resources and equipment as required to meet daily priorities.
* Initiate/validate corrective maintenance work packages.
* Consistently review Rounds Action Tracking Log (RATL) and facilitate improvements.
* Perform routine inspections of all work areas.
* Participate in EAPC walkdowns and meetings.
WRPS will consider successful completion of the following qualifications toward experience equivalencies (max consideration of 3 qualifications).
- Operations Engineer (OE) - Area Dayshift Manager (SM) - Central Shift Manager (CSM) - 242-A Shutdown Mode (SM) - 242-A All Mode (SM) - ETF Shift Operations Manager (SOM) Required Qualifications Grade 20: * Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Business, Construction Management, Engineering or a related field; and * Ten (10) years of related experience or Seven (7) years related experience and successful completion of three (3) approved qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Grade 21: * Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Business, Construction Management.
Engineering or a related field; and * Twelve (12) years of related experience or nine (9) years related experience and successful completion of three (3) approved qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications -Experience with Nuclear Operations either on a Department of Energy site or commercial site.
-Previous experience with DOE, DNFSB staff and regulators desirable.
